I've been working on this deck for 3 months (i've been helped by a friend from Texas during testing, building and tuning) and i've been really pleased with the result.

This has been a small Regional Tournament, with 17 players. I've started the pairing with a Bye from the Local Store Championship, so i've had time to check for other player's deck. There were: -4x eQuiGon eKanan (4th and 2nd Place) -4x R2P2 (3rd Place) -2x eSabine Kanan (i've been really surprised to find a mirror match) -1x eJabba eUnkar -1x FOTrooper, FOTrooper, Guavian Enforcer, Ciena Ree -1x Rieekan, Padme, Jedi Istructor -1x Death Trooper, Death Trooper, Guavian Enforcer -1x eAshoka eKanan -1x eGrand Inquisitor, e7th Sister -1x ePalpatine

During the 2nd match i've meet R2P2, that went down with a planned NTMTO combo for 14 damages. 3rd pairing has been vs a 4 character deck (2x FOTrooper, Guavian, Ciena Ree) focusing my fire on Ciena, then on the Guavian and taking down the 2 Troopers in a round. 4th game has been my only loss during swiss pairing, going vs a Rieekan mill deck: I've been winning during the whole game but during the last 2 rounds i've not been able to deal more than 2 damages to Padme (she had 4 or 6 hp left) and i runned out of cards and rerolls (obtaining only 2 damages after 2 rerolls of 2x Dl44, 1x X-8, 2x Sabine dice, 1x Kanan dice +2 Force speed). 5th game has been a mirror match (the player is a friend that asked me not to reveal his lineup. Let's say that our version have a different aproach to reach the same goal) that i won at damage count.

The semi-final pairing had me vs my 1st opponent, running R2P2; a video will be uploaded soon. I've won the 1st game with the usual NTMTO combo, same for 3rd game. Lost the 2nd game as i've not been able to obtain enough resources.

Final game has been vs eQuiGon eKanan. I've used Second Chances and Ipersonate to keep myself alive enought to deal OTK damages with Sabine and guns + NTMTO. To be honest, the 1st match has been conceded after a kill with a natural 8 damage Sabine vs a fully loaded up QuiGon.

[Deck Explanation] The decks has as main strategy to load up Sabine with lot of Ambush guns (DL-44, X-8, Holdout) and Jetpack (for the +3r Side AND for the special, allowing for a meelee removal) to deal fast not-removable damages (Activate Sabine, Play Gun from discard, Roll and resolve with ambush). Claiming early allows for a quick activation/kill during the next round. After the 1st kill, it's time to shield up Sabine with Second Chance, Force Illusions OR to move damages with Impersonate (WARNING: Don't kill Kanan moving damage, always leave him enough damage to force your opponent to decide between killing Kanan or going after Sabine again). Kanan is a good companion for Sabine allowing for a quick resource, a focus into 3r damage, 2 free damages or 3 shields with Caution. Force Speeds are an extra ambush for Sabine, making her activation an "ambushed" one; 4 actions in a row are gross and really strong!! Running Interference is a MAIN card, as it allows you to take time to Jump (activate Sabine overwriting an ambush weapon, forcing your opponent not to activate, and resolve to then use Hyperspace Jump, getting an advantage over your opponent with a free turn) or to enable the NTMTO combo (activate Sabine with an ambush weapon, Play NTMTO to prepare you dice and force your opponent not to play cards (removals)).

Mulligan:

  1. Ambush Weapon (1 is good, 2 is better, 3 is great, 4 may be too much)
  2. Force Speed
  3. Removals (Loth, High Ground of Caution as a free 3damage removal) OR a Resource Generator (Smuggling + Weapon > Truce > Stolen Cache(gold vs R2P2)) Extra: If u win the roll, take your opponent field for shields; you will be claiming a LOT.

Standard 1st Turn: -Activate Kanan (or play Force Speed, THEN Activate) -Take Resource OR deal 2 dmgs then reroll 0 dice discarding a gun. IF u have disrupt, gun or null: really reroll. -Activate Sabine, Play Gun from discard obtaining ambush and roll. -Resolve Damage -Remove damages > Take Resources > Take Shields -IF the field can be claimed by your opponent: Taunt to force them to lose damage getting in hurry and claiming OR claim.

Next Turns: -If a One Shot Kill is possible, Activate Sabine. If not, repeat the 1st turn.

WHEN TO PLAY SECOND CHANCE? As soon as it becomes REALLY necessary; Sabine needs as many guns as possible, don't overwrite them if not necessary. WHEN TO PLAY FORCE ILLUSION? When needed, possibly end game when both Second Chance have been used; if u have no guns in discard, u can try overwriting one to gain an ambush activation later. Milling with Force Illusion is really dangerous, as a NTMTO or a Second Chance can be lost. WHEN TO PLAY NEVER TELL ME THE ODDS? When it can kill a character with 0% failure chances.

[CARD CHOICES] 2X Cards: DL-44 - Best 3 cost gun in the game. Removal, Ambush, 3dmg side X-8, Holdout Blasters - Ambush guns. (X-8>Holdout) Force Illusion, Second Chance - Allow for more chances to win the game Force Speed, Running Interference - Combo engines High Ground - Counter to Kylo2, it's the blue version of Electroshock Hyperspace Jump - Free Activation for Sabine, Saves life when a GodRoll is ready to deal damage, Changes the Battlefield with your one Loth Cat and Mouse - Free Removal for unuseful dice Never Tell Me The Odds (NTMTO) - Combo damage, game ender, OTK generator Truce - Free resources usable as soon as u need them (DL-44, Hyperpace Jump, NTMTO, High Ground, resolve 3/1 damages)

1X Cards: Jetpack - good dice for Sabine, Removal for melee decks. It is useful to overwrite an ambush gun if 0 are in the discard pile Stolen Cache - it takes the slot of 2nd Smuggling; it is a tech vs P2R2 Smuggling - Read above Caution - Kanan die is gold, wasting it is a bad thing. A 1st turn caution can make a big difference. Playing a 2nd can have 0 value if kanan (or Sabine) dies. Impersonate - Read above. It is a 3rd (5th if we considerate the 2x Force Illusion, 7th if we considerate the 2x Jumps) Second Chance

Can you further explain why Stolen Cache is a good card? It just looks like a one time way to get a resource at the expense of two actions and a card slot. How is it "tech" against R2P2? There's something I'm missing.

`@Stephilmike': If you go second (and you should NEVER leave the shield at your opponent) you will play on the battlefield that makes you bounce a support from discard (or hand) into play at -1 cost. My deck isn't fast enough to claim every time vs R2P2, thus giving me an extra resource before claiming (Stolen cached action, opponent action, then claim). If i have my battlefield i willing just play it when i'm out of action and I have spare time, when I don't want to claim yet or to prevent a double pass... or as a reroll, if I really don't need it.

Extra: my friend says that "having two scavenge in hand is a bad thing" as u lose a resource

Interesting list, Jetpack and Stolen Cache should be Maz's Goggles, other then that looks good

@talism: Maz's Goggles has been tested: those glasses are good, BUT the deck needs a quick damage output. I swapped "stability" with damages as Jetpack is a +2/3 Damages without further action (OR +2 health) each turn, while Maz's Goggles need an extra action to focus and then hit, plus they take 1 important upgrade slot (Sabine wants 3 guns OR 2 guns an 1 Second Chance when low on health)

The goggles go on the partner which is kanan in this instant. They either take removal from there hand or fix your dice when the random gods fail your ambush roll Which happens alot more then you think

@talism: being hit by removal and going slow is totally against the deck idea. If the opponent can ramp too much, the games is probably over. 1 resource for goggles are 3 less damages, equipping goggles is 1 more action to take, resolving goggles 1 more. (force speed is a win-more condition, earlier version didn't play that and the deck MUST NOT depend on it)

@Schattenriss LOST to a Rieekan mill, but due to BAD BAD BAD rolls in the last 2 rounds, with 5/6 cards left. He had Padme with 6 hp (Second Chance already triggered and discarded) and i had a full loaded sabine (2x Dl44, 1x X-8) and a Double Force Speed on Kanan... I have not been able to kill her! I've tested vs Rieekan-mill and Unkar/Jabba mill/crimelord and i've lost REALLY RARELY only vs the second one

@Spectre_it Thanks for the reply. Do you keep overwriting weapons on Sabine when she activate? To collect recources for NTMTO or recource sides on the weapons. Or do you want to play more weapons on Sabine for more damage, but then you don't have a lot of recources for events or recource sides.

@Schattenriss: He was playing 1x NTMTO, 0x Jumps and had a different approach more conservative, using the "Starship Graveyard" battlefield but losing a lot of explosive damage.

@Winter_soldier: I try to equip 3 weapons as soon as possible, then i keep overwriting to gain ambush OR to play a Second Chance. Sometime i need to NOT overwrite to spare resources for Second Chance OR i have to overwrite while still on 1/2 weapons to farm resources for a combo turn. Usually i can plan a NTMTO-combo turn at turn 3/4, or i can go for a kill turn 2 (or 3 activating Sabine before Kanan).

@Spectre_it many thanks for taking the time to share your deck list and strategy. I have been playing eSabine/eEzra, but it was not consistent. I was looking for ideas for a different pairing and this fits perfectly. I’ll build this and test it with my local gaming group tomorrow.

I love this deck! Any thoughts on using Draw Attention instead of Impersonate? It's only two health but zero cost. Also, what about Concentrate instead of NTMTO? Only two dice manipulation but one less resource cost. Last question, would you consider Yoda instead of Kanan with Legacies out?

@Stephilmike: draw attention is as strong as an electroshock, removing 2 damages. Using impersonate totally change the focus on the match as Kanan, who is usually the 2nd target, goes from 0 to 6/9 damages while Sabine goes from 6/9 to 0; if the opponent goes after Kanan I have actually removed 10+ damages with a cost of 2. Does the deck work without Kanan? ABSOLUTELY, YES!

Concentrate is a good card, but I can pay 1 more resource for 3 more dice (+6/+9 dmgs). It is the card I use to make a quick kill an annoying character in the first turn or to end the game if 6 damages aren't enough. I can seem 3 resources being an high cost, but the deck can generate a lot of money that has to be spent for the first 3 weapons. Ideally i have a kill turn 2/early 3 and 4+ resources turn 4.

Yoda question: i like Yoda, but it is not as fast as Kanan. Bonuses points for Yoda: it can be a good decoy as 1st target and generates resources.

@Spectre_itif activate kanan first and his dice shows focus. Do re-roll that dice when putting the ambush weapon for sabine into the discard pile? I ask because in your Description you did not mention focus but the other symbols. Thanks!

Sorry, I missed the R2P2 message from @Schattenriss. I will usually go after the most dangerous one: a weaponless Poe is weaker than Rey with a shoto/ancient. If i see a 1st turn c3po i will probably target Poe.

Keep in mind that this deck can output 12/15 dmg in an activation, killing a full-health character: if you keep them both at 9 hp you can decide what to hit WHEN you have the combo! (going after Rey will usually force your opponent to equip weapons to Poe and vice versa)

I had troubles with R2P2, but i think that every deck able to kill Sabine during early turn 2 can be a problem

@Spectre_it: I did further play testing and I really like the deck. However, I found out that the deck "swdestinydb.com (Ezra/Rookie Pilot/2xhired gun) is very very difficult to defeat. Any recommendations?

@Spectre_it I think the decks which counter eSabine/Kanan most, are Ezra/Rookie pilot/2xhired gun (too much health and the hyperspace jump does work as the game will last numerous rounds!) and R2P2. I am experimenting how to increase the win chances.

Did you consider planned explosion (https://swdestinydb.com/card/02116) or outmaneuver (https://swdestinydb.com/card/02149)?

I am considering changing planned explosion with one hyperspace jump. This covers the case your upgrade dice are showing sides with resource costs and no resources are available.

In addition I see outmaneuver being a tech for R2P2 and for Ezra/Rookie Pilot/2xhired gun.

Any comments from your side?

@SchattenrissI played Stolen Cache to have a support to bounce (when needed) vs R2P2 or Spaceship Graveyard. Outmaneuver has been tested and i found that i don't want to spend that 1 resource early in the match (it takes 1 claim to go pair and a 2nd one to start earning resources). It is for sure a good card in this deck BUT i preferred not to play it.

Planned Explosion: i see what you want to achieve, but usually i keep 1 resource to pay a 3/1 side. I don't like Planned Explosion in this deck,

As for the counters, i've rarely had problem with 3-wide decks, being able to take down a char turn 1/early 2 and taking the lead of the game. (Same for Bala Tik)

BTW, the meta has changed and this deck is taking dust in my collection, at the moment.
