Edit: 7.10.2017 - Made some edits to this deck, and it has been working even better! Dropped 2x Riposte, 1x Confidence, and 1x Heroism. Swapped Lightsaber for Handcrafted Light Bow. Added 2x One With The Force. Added 2x Synchronicity. So far it is doing fantastic. I am going to try it in a Store Championship this weekend. Expect it should be an easy win after the Galactic Championship. Link to the updated deck is below.

https://swdestinydb.com/decklist/view/11575/lukerey-v202017galacticchampionship-74-0-3.0

This deck is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S. It cheats in so many actions and has a ton of combos. Major control. Vibroknife of course on Rey, but also Swiftness to any any other upgrade to make it a Vibroknife. The Swiftness also allows me to combo removal. Swiftness into a Confidence, and then followed with a Heroism or High Ground. Swiftness into a Use The Force on Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight 3 dmg side, and then followed with a Guard. Swiftness on Use The Force, to focus Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight to 3dmg and resolve it. Or follow it with a My Ally Is The Force is you are flush on resources. Swiftness Caution on a character dice, and then Riposte the 3 shields. Lightsaber is in there so Rey - Force Prodigy can have a little more fire power if Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight dies and it has redeploy. I use Maz's Castle - Takodana to push through cards to get what I need, or use it to resolve my dice fast and put my hand on the bottom of my deck if playing mill. They wont catch me riding dirty with 4 cards in my hands and a bunch of mill showing.

Herby 2

74-0??? BS

Donkeee 530

@Herby This deck performed very well in the galactic championship. I only played against top meta decks, and I beat most of them by round 3.

Kr0ozin 1292

Post is outdated, I believe it is 77-0 after last night.

Mycatdied 26

^ I'm thinking Herby might be 0-74 in the "Obviously, its Sarcasm" Championship.

Anyways. I tried this deck out and I'm impressed. Lot's of combo's and everything is cheap. I'm thinking this might be the deck to beat until the next set. Been very consistent.

The only thing I would maybe tinker with is Force Illusions, but I'm not sure what a better fit would be yet.

Donkeee 530

This deck cheats in so many actions, I was able to defeat my round two opponent while still playing in round one.

Donkeee 530

@Mycatdied you are obviously an early adopter of the top meta decks and very intelligent since you picked up on this one so fast. Have fun explaining what my ally is the force card does to bad players when you wreck them for 11 dmg in one activation.

ivbenoit 19

I think someone has figured out if you put SC winner or a x-0 record in the title of your post, people love the deck and it gets bumped.

Donkeee 530

@ivbenoit are you suggestion I am not telling the truth? Make the deck and I bet you go at least 74-0 with it.

Donkeee 530

@ivbenoit and also... this is not a store championship deck. It's a galactic championship deck. Totally different level of playing. The competition is fierce.

Jedrzej 1

@Donkeee Heyo! Liking the inclusion of swiftness. But I'm also number 1 hater of heroism. Can you somehow explain to me why it is in the deck and not other removal (for example deflect) Greetings

Donkeee 530

@Jedrzejfantastic question. Think of heroism as a temporary guardian ability. If they are ganging up on luke, you can use this to focus the damage onto rey instead and give like more time. I use it a lot in scenarios where they are showing a 1 dmg and a +2 dmg. I resolve the 1 dmg, and make them not be able to resolve the +2dmg. Also, love using it to remove the vibroknife die, so now the damage is blockable. ok, so why do I like it over deflect. two main reasons come to mind. it cost 0, so I dont have to have resources. This deck used resources primarily as removal. 2. it works on both ranged and melee damage. deflect is a good card, until you play emo kids or a melee deck. Then its just a reroll. 0 cost removal is the pro tip for this deck.

Jedrzej 1

alright I'm sold on the vibroknife die. It can be huge with force illusion. I'll have to test that. I assume the deck is full on aggro + removing some nasty Palp/Vader/Poe dice on the way?

Donkeee 530

@JedrzejI would call it a cautious aggro. If I have an option to trade my dmg for a good amount of removal with Makashi Training or Guard I will do it. When luke goes down this deck is neutered. I often see this deck do 2-4 dmg to a hero, and then burst the rest down in one activation. going 8+ dmg in a single activation is easy with action cheating and My Ally Is The Force

Jedrzej 1

@Donkeeealright got ya. 2 more questions :D Let's assume you're playing against Poe/Maz. Are you trying to outdamage them and nuke Maz/Poe round 1/beginning of round 2 or rather play some force illusions and removal? Second question, have you considered close quarters assault? I think it might be interesting add, dont know if effective though.

Donkeee 530

@Jedrzejyou obviously didnt read the name of this deck. it won the galactic championship going 74-0. I considered every possible card combination, and this is the perfect optimized deck. This deck is tier -1, because it cheated in some additional tiers with Vibroknife. As for your question, with any deck you play against, all options depend on what they roll and do. If Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot rolls out a resource, I am going to try and Confidence or remove his dice. I want to stay ahead on the control game, that is why I call it a cautious aggro deck. If the opportunity arises for me to burst Maz Kanata - Pirate Queen on turn 1, I am probably going to take it. Luke has 12 health, so he can take some hits. As for Close Quarters Assault, I dont think it serves a purpose in the deck. Hand removal doesn't help this deck. It all control, and burst dmg.

Jedrzej 1

@Donkeeealright thanks for responses - still will try to find better cards than confidence and heroism :P If I'll get any interestin results I'll hit you up. :)

artelas 1

Any consideration for Holdout Blasters for more rey cheating? Love the deck :)

Donkeee 530

@artelas hold out blaster is good for the action cheats. But the die doesnt go well with all he melee dmg.

Donkeee 530

@Jedrzej try it with those cards. Use them and you will be surprised.

JustinMcBride 175

`@Donkeee I like how clean this list looks and can see it being very good against many decks. Quick question: When and where was the "Galactic Championship"?

Donkeee 530

@JustinMcBride I went to tosche station to pick up some power converters. Saw it going on and threw my hat in the ring.

JustinMcBride 175

@Donkeee That's what I thought. I thought I saw you there making out with Biggs, but I just had to make sure.

Uncleruckous 13

If you don't run lightbow in a Luke deck or a battlefield that will truly benefit you from all the action cheating then I pretty much discount everything.

Khanman 78

@Donkeee galactic is all well and good; what we want to know is how it performed in the universal championship.

Donkeee 530

@Uncleruckous Handcrafted Light Bow?!?! Different battlefield?! What in the world are you thinking. If you would like, I can trade you some UNO cards. They might be more your speed.

Tybrid 922

I won my store championship with this! and the event isn't until next week!

Donkeee 530

@Tybrid Bingo. That is how this deck works. Congrats on the victory.

DHarvison 14

Can I ask your thoughts on lightsaber over force throw? I find force throw almost indispensible in this deck with the speed if you roll that special out there your opponent knows that their best die is gonna get tossed back at them. It's very powerful against a palp deck. Yeah I know that it helps Rey hit harder and has redeploy. Also the ranged damage side on force throw doesn't mix. But the control and the threat on the board force throw can present is just too good for me to pass on.

edirpeelstae 70

Force throw doesn't have redeploy. I play a similar Luke Rey and went 6-0 at a 40+ person SC and then lost in a best of 1 after Swiss vs mirror with some bad draws and dice but still came down to last roll.

I tested a fair bit and had throw at one point but personally found that lightsaber, one with the force and handcrafted lightbow all were far better. With the current speedy meta throw can often feel too slow. And you don't want too many upgrades in this deck as blue hero doesn't have many resources (no enrage, no holo), plus dice naturally have high damage and games are shorter now. that's also why the 0 cost removal events are key as hell. Saber is far better due to being resource efficient, also has two sides for Guard (great feeling to remove 3 dice with a side you can't afford).

Maz Castle is not really a great bf which is precisely why I take it. Helps vs mill which can be annoying for Luke at times (I also use Ben Journals for massive draw). It also digs for cards like My Ally which can easily end games rd two by killing big hitters like Vader or Poe while also inflicting some damage on the support. I view it like a more useful Mos Eisley and mostly take it to start with two shields. Only vs Poe and mill do I choose my bf and even then that's not a given as I love the hp boost.

Heroism is a rockstar and the author of the deck explained it to a T. I love that card and would say it's one that I feel MUST be included. I keeps Luke alive longer, splits damage, hurts modifiers and directly counters Vibroknife which is beyond great.

I think this deck has a harder Learning curve than villain blue due to all the removal being fairly situational and some requiring you to sacrifice offense for defense (guard and makashi). I also think that compared to villain blue it has both resource issues and much crappier removal (what I would give to have even an isolation!). But it has one distinct advantage. Vader Raider/Emo Boys mostly have cards that increase consistency but don't deal non dice damage. Force strike and bait and switch do not add damage just consistency. In my Luke deck I run 2 My Ally, 2 Synchronicity, 1 Riposte (may go 2), 1 Return of the Jedi (often take a synchronicity or My Ally). All of those deal damage out of hand and that provides a distinct advantage over many aggro decks. Assuming RotJ on Riposte or My Ally and that deck can hypothetically deal 16 damage that doesn't require dice to be resolved. I often by end of rd 2 have used 2 of those 6 cards and dealt an extra 4-6 damage that puts me far ahead in the race. I definitely play my deck more aggro than the author but also am able to switch to a defensive playstyle on the fly. Luke is very fun and very rewarding, I highly recommend this deck.

Donkeee 530

@lvalxSynchronicity is an interesting though. I am trying to think back through games how often I have melee and shields showing. I was thinking to go down to 1x Riposte, and that would free up one spot.

edirpeelstae 70

So I usually aim for Speed rd 1 and try to get a Makashi/Vibro, with just Speed out you have 3 dice with shield sides which ends up being a close to 50% chance of rolling a shield. Between that, focus and rerolls (I reroll a lot due to often drawing 2 extra cards due to the Journals) I am able to play synchronicity probably 75% of the time. The unblockable is brutally good. But I do have a slightly more aggro deck build than yours. I added synchronicity on a whim before my SC and it was useful in all 7 games. One game I had an insane draw of 2 synchronicity and a return of the Jedi and dealt 6 damage to Poe round 1 without resolving a single die. I aim for round 2 character kills and would say that around 2/3s of my games I am able to kill a char such as Poe or Vader in round 2 (I mulligan for My Ally unless I am playing a discard heavy deck to guarantee myself the rd 2 My Ally which is almost always a killing blow).

Schattenriss 1

@Ivalx: interesting. I was so gar playing Qui-gon/ Rey, because of the damage potential coming from Blue Hero cards. Now I am on Luke/Rey because of "my ally" in combination with Luke's 3 dmg side on the die.

Do you mind to post your Version of a Luke/Rey deck (more aggro)?

Thanks

DHarvison 14

@Donkeee I was considering dropping one riposte and putting in a return of the Jedi. What do you think? While I appreciate @Ivalx's response I'd like to know your thoughts on my precious question regarding force throw. While I agree lightsaber is better for the utility with guard I don't see how force throw is much slower than lightsaber as it's still an upgrade like saber. If anything instead of using your action to play guard you'll be using your action to resolve the throw die. Yes you won't remove as much damage as guard and lightsaber but you'll be removing the opponent's most damaging die and throwing it back at the opponent for more damage.

DHarvison 14

To be clear I'm using 10 upgrades just like you just instead of 2 lightsaber I'm using two force throw.

edirpeelstae 70

I would argue Throw is too slow because of all the cheating that the common decks do, between Fast Hands and Speed as well as Rey and Maz.

edirpeelstae 70

@Schattenriss swdestinydb.com So far I've won small local events and went 7-1 (6-0 Swiss vs 2 palp, Vader raider, Poe maz, 4 char and emo kids) at an over 40 person SC, I'll be using it again this weekend at a 30-50 person SC. Will report when done, hoping to earn my Phasma!

Schattenriss 1

@Ivalx Thank you and good luck for your tournament. I am looking forward to your report!

Schattenriss 1

@lvalxyou have chosen One with the force over lightsaber. Can you explain why?

Jedrzej 1

@Donkeee @lvalx Have you tried using holdout blasters instead of makashi training? Liking the inclusion of them a lot.

GWItheUltimate 1

Do you have any proof of the 74-0 ?!?

edirpeelstae 70

I like One With the Force due to the added consistency from the card (combos incredibly with Speed), but wouldn't say that it is objectively more useful than the Saber, it's a bit more of a generalist card and I actually like having a disrupt side on it, it helps me deal with the ramp towards Ranks and Rise Again. The focus sides are usually ridiculous for me (can help set up something like Synchronicity or Riposte).

As for Holdout, I tried that for the extra cheats and didn't like it much at all, the ranged sides simply don't fit well even if you run One With the Force or Bow. I also find that Force Speed + Vibro tends to be sufficient in the cheat department.

Kr0ozin 1292

@GWItheUltimate just look up the results for the 2017 Galactic Championship. It's all there.

Donkeee 530

@DHarvison That is actually a good swap to do 1 Riposte for a Return of the Jedi. I might consider that swap myself.

@@Jedrzej Holdout Blaster just doesnt work well in the deck because it doesnt combo well with all the melee. It does do a good job of action cheating, but the lack of melee sides kills it for me.

@GWItheUltimate The proof is this post. If it is on the internet its true.

whyett 1

Donkee. I got torn up by a yellow mil deck using this deck in a small tourney last night. Granted, I'm still fairly new to the game and probably made some mistakes. But he beat me quite easily by running me out of cards for the win. What is your advice against this tactic? Thanks for your post.

Donkeee 530

@whyett Us Maz's Castle - Takodana to put your entire hand at the bottom of the deck so he cant mill your hand. And then control his dice he uses to mill you. What was he playing?

whyett 1

Jabba was one of his characters, and for the life of me I can't remember the other. I know the guy though and I will ask him what the entire contents of his deck was. It was a very well supported deck and he got great draws and die rolls. He won the roll for the initial battlefield so that kind of screwed that over. Thanks for your reply.

MarcellvsMagnvs 1

Nice deck, I'd consider getting rid of some cards in order to get better cheats ;) -1 Riposte -2 High Ground (looks better when building the deck than later when playing) to add +1 One with the Force +1 Return of the Jedi +1 Synchronicity Also Luke's Lightsaber is so much better, maybe have 1 of each? even it hasn't redeploy...

edirpeelstae 70

@Schattenriss I got second at the SC player Vader Raider a bunch! I'll post link to my write up for anyone interested.

Schattenriss 1

@lvalx understood; I will have a Look. Thank you for writing up!

Herby 2

He posted his write up...then got flamed for cheating in his tournament.

Mycatdied 26

@lvalxyou have been posting all these tips, then you get caught cheating. What a scumbag. Everyone, google on youtube "Player cheats during destiny store championship (player on right with luke-rey).

rodrigomotta 31

@Donkeee please, can you explain how use Swiftness into a Confidence? I realy dont understand this purpose.

Donkeee 530

@rodrigomotta Sure thing. I can explain a scenario I came across in my last game. My opponent rolled out melee dmg. 1x dmg Vibroknife, 2x dmg Kylo Ren - Vader's Disciple die, +2x dmg Lightsaber, and +2x dmg Makashi Training. He was about to do 7 dmg and kill my Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight. I played Swiftness, followed by Confidence and resolved his 1x dmg Vibroknife. With the ambush given to confidence by swiftness, I then played High Ground to remove his 2x dmg Kylo Ren - Vader's Disciple die, and dealt one damage to him. I was able to play 2 removal due to swiftness. This meant I tool 1 dmg instead of 7, and with high ground I did one dmg back to him.

Donkeee 530

@Herby I was hoping his write up would go into more detail about how he cheats. It seems to be a big part of his strategy.

rodrigomotta 31

@Donkeee Ok I understand. Thanks. But, your opponent continues with Lightsaber dice and Makashi Training dice, right? What happens after your play?

Donkeee 530

@rodrigomottaYes, they continue with the other dice, but no way to resolve them. They will need to reroll or somehow focus a die. Or simply not resolve them. In this case, the opponent was not able to resolve them.

SirToastsalot 19

I played this last night and took first going 4-0 I loved my ally is the force. Or when I had the resources going swiftness, use the force, my ally is the force

Donkeee 530

Awesome @SirToastsalot My Ally Is The Force is an all star in this deck.

Marcos_Neiva 14

@Donkeee I have only one Force Speed and 1 Force Illusion, what do you suggest to use while i don't have this cards?

Donkeee 530

@Marcos_Neiva I added some comments above to highlight some revisions I have made to the deck. Those are tough cards to be missing. I would consider adding in Rejuvenate for the Force Illusion. The Force Speed really doesn't have a replacement, so it would free room for you to add something like Return of the Jedi or based on the new changes I made to the deck, leave in one Riposte.

Marcos_Neiva 14

Thanks @Donkeee I'll try, and soon i tell you if it works!

michelecannone 1

I wonder how this deck would change with My Ally is the Force impowerment...I think One with the force has a real chance

Donkeee 530

@Marcos_Neiva Awesome! Look forward to hearing more.

Donkeee 530

@michelecannone I dont exactly follow the question. Do you mean adding in One With The Force? My new version has that card added back in.

Kr0ozin 1292

In your preparation for the upcoming Universal Championship, what have your thoughts been about replacing Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight with Obi-Wan Kenobi - Mysterious Hermit?

Donkeee 530

@Kr0ozin I really like the idea of using My Ally Is The Force with Obi-Wan Kenobi - Mysterious Hermit. Roll his two dice, and if one hits the 2x Focus side, you can My Ally Is The Force into 6+ dmg depending on what other upgrades you have. You lose one health, which is always a problem in this deck. But guardian could prove useful with removing a vibro knife or their only black side die when activating. The death effect for obi-wan is interesting too. Often when Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight died, Rey - Force Prodigy was underwhelming. The effect would help you to throw a Handcrafted Light Bow or One With The Force from the graveyard. Maybe pump her up a bit.

michelecannone 1

@Donkeeewhere is your last version of this deck with One with the force?

rodrigomotta 31

@Donkeee man, i know the power of "Force Speed" but I cant use it effectively... what is the best way, combos, character to attach, etc, to use "Force Speed"?

Donkeee 530

@michelecannone This is the link to the most recent list.

swdestinydb.com

Donkeee 530

@rodrigomotta Fair question. Force Speed is a powerful card in this deck. The card helps you with your action cheating. One of the best opening hands includes Force Speed and Vibroknife. Play Force Speed to gain and action, and play Vibroknife for two more actions. This then allows you to roll in Rey, and if you roll the Force Speed action resolve it. Force Speed also allows you to gain two actions, and roll in Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight. You can then resolve his dice without the chance of them being removed. If you have both characters rolled out already, you can resolve force speed to discard a card to reroll all your dice and have a chance to resolve them before removal. One of the best things about this card also is that it is 0 cost, so you can save your resources for other upgrades or removal cards.

rodrigomotta 31

@Donkeee Buddie, Force Illusion crash my game. Its nice dont die... but, broke my heart (and my game) the number of discards... how use this shit? Ony in low damage?

Marcos_Neiva 14

@Donkeee I tested the deck in a store's league nearby my house! I lost 3 games and won 1! Only one Speed Force really doesn't help, and I tried Willpower instead of Force Illusion, and it helped a little! The defeats were not disgraceful, in fact, were decided in the last moments of the game! I'll try to get familiar with this deck and tell you more in the future!

Donkeee 530

@rodrigomotta How much damage are you taking with Force Illusion? Typically I only stop 2-3 with it each time, unless I get luck with a + side die. The extra health is very important in this deck. To help protect luke.

Donkeee 530

@Marcos_Neiva What decks did you play against?

Marcos_Neiva 14

@Donkeee First game against Unkar/FN-2199/Trooper i lost after killing Unkar and The Trooper, second game against Emo Kids and i lost after killing Kylo, Vader was left with 2 life points, Third game against Jango/FN-2199 and i lost after loose my Luke, and my only victory was against Qui-Gon/Rey, that was very easy!

rodrigomotta 31

@Donkeee 3 of 4 of damage... sometimes 5 to dont die... look, 2 Force Illusion: one takes 3, other takes 4 damage... 7 cards in a 30 cards deck. Its so much. We can use Force Illusion in Rey too, right?

Kr0ozin 1292

@Marcos_Neiva obviously I didn't see the games, but in the two losses you described you definitely had the wrong target priority. Against Unkar/FN/Trooper, FN is ALWAYS the #1 target. If you save him for last, he'll get too many upgrades and just dish out insane amounts of damage.

Against Kylo/Vader, Vader is the main source of damage as well, so he is always the target. It's possible these are bad matchups with this deck, but targeting the right character first will definitely help your odds.

Donkeee 530

@Marcos_Neiva I think @Kr0ozin is spot on. The issue on those games sounds like target priority.

Marcos_Neiva 14

@Kr0ozin``@Donkeee Thank you Guys, July 30 we have another round! I'll keep you informed!!!

Donkeee 530

@Marcos_Neiva Good luck!

davidburleyson 1

Curious to see what you add from Empire at War

Admiral Raddus 16

I am soooo using this deck. You should add a plot card from Legacies.
