General Grievous - Fearsome Cyborg
This guy has been one of my favorite character cards in Destiny since he was released in Way of the Force. With Standard rotating, and new cards coming in with Convergence, I wanted to see what new tools this Fearsome Cyborg was gaining. Before Standard rotated, I previously paired General Grievous - Fearsome Cyborg with Royal Guard (goodbye Guardian, you will be missed!) and it seemed to work fairly well. With Convergence/Rotation, I believe Sentinel Messenger is going to be one of his best new partners. Sentinel Messenger has very solid sides for 1 dice, followed by a pretty incredible ability that triggers off its activation. This deck is focused around 0 cost mitigation mostly to combo off Messenger's activation ability, but also to allow Resources () to be focused on Weapon ramp or getting the Defoliator Tank down. Beguile is included because it's my favorite 2 cost removal at the moment. It Binds All Things is just generally great here, and works well if Sentinel Messenger activates a Blue Weapon off the top of the deck. Bacta Therapy can provide big heals while also removing the only downgrade I'm currently concerned with (Hampered). Crafted Lightsaber is awesome with General Grievous - Fearsome Cyborg, as he lets you ignore the exhausted play restriction.
Things I will be keeping an eye on:
1) Defoliator Tank: I believe we might start seeing a return of some 3+ wide decks in Convergence. This tank is in the deck to help with that. The Special () here is pretty solid in that it hits all characters that aren't yours. This is not good if they are running a General Grievous - Droid Armies Commander deck or it's mirror match. Using the Focus () sides on Messenger to land the Special (). I will consider swapping in Megablaster Troopers due to the Leader subtype on Grievous. Its probably way better. You can also skip a support dice and double up your draw chances on Darth Vader's Lightsaber.
2) Palpatine's Lightsaber: Excellent sides for its cost. Potentially played for free if It Binds All Things x2 is out. It just has a whole lot of text that does absolutely nothing for this deck. This card is in the deck for its Cost, Melee () x3, and its Weapon Subtype.
3) Lair of General Grievous - Vassek 3: I think this battlefield may help speed up the damage you have while you are still ramping Weapons on Grievous. Until we know just exactly how they will be nerfing Theed Royal Palace - Naboo, I would totally still recommend using that for the Power Action.
4) Retribution: The damage here if they remove any character dice is great, and seems pretty solid when paired with the damage from Lair of General Grievous - Vassek 3. At some point I might experiment a bit with Lightsaber Mastery, but only Fatal Blow catches my eye out of the Move events so far.
5) Lack of Redeploy: This deck currently lacks Redeploy Weapons. I found it difficult to fit in both enough Blue Weapons for It Binds All Things as well as fitting in the Melee () Weapons that have Redeploy. Might be worth revisiting if Grievous is dying quick. Hoping Bacta Therapy pulls through for the Cyborg.
Other cards that fit in well here:
- Well-armed
- Grand Entrance (recommended by Remedy)
- Forsaken (recommended by Remedy)
- Modular Frame
- Hampered
- Legacies
- Treasured Lightsaber
- Honed Skills
- Dagger of Mortis (if Shields/Blue Hero become stronger this set)
- Furious Assault (ive had the worst luck with this card)
- Bubble Shield (I should probably start thinking about auto including this. Padmé Amidala - Resolute Senator looks insane.)
Feedback is totally welcomed!

Nice build, I'd recommend fitting forsaken in there somewhere as well as shifting from 2 cost mitigation as you will typically need to choose between ramping and mitigating. Try doubt over sound the alarm and crash landing, beguile, bacta therapy maybe shift it to 1 cost mitigation combined with grand entranace as tact mastery into grand entrance can often win games R2/3. Could also consider Talzin over sentinel and build a slightly more odd based deck to fit witch magic in. But love the solid deck shell for sure! |

2 riot shields for sure. It's the new illusion. |
I think Modular Frame could do really well in this deck, given that you have both a droid and Grievous. |

Doesn't the tank hit your messenger? |

I'm surprised to see you including Maul's Lightsaber, since it's blue character only, so you can only play it on the Sentinel Messenger. |

Would you rather play royal guard if able? I ask because I play infinite with people not maximizing their decks. Cheers |

I’ve looked at Grievous many times before, but this is the first time I haven’t cringed immediately after doing so. This deck seems really solid, and like a ton of fun to play. What’re your thoughts on punch dagger? Do you think it’s worth including as a one-off in place of something else, or have they proven their worth in testing?
